I first had the pleasure of meeting Drake’s mommy and daddy when I was I had the honor of photographing their wedding a few years ago. Now I get to photograph their little boy, which means a lot to me. Little baby Drake was born in the year of the dragon. So as a fun twist to our popular teddy bear portrait, mommy and daddy brought in Drake’s stuffed dragons to use instead. I think the portraits are adorable. Drake wasn’t in the best of moods, even after a long nap, but you’d never know it from his portraits. Lots of smiles here. What a cutie. They drove more than an hour to come in for little Drake’s portraits, so I’m very glad they turned out so well. Here are a few of my favorites.

Babies are cute at any age, but I have to say I think my favorite stage to photograph is the 6-8 month range.  About when they’re sitting up really well, full of smiles, but aren’t quite as quick on their feet as a one year old.  Although some little tykes can crawl faster than I can run.  Ava was in a wonderful mood for this session, full of smiles, no teeth bothering her at the moment. We really had a lot of fun.  Soon she’ll have a new little brother or sister to keep her busy, but for right now she has the run of the house to herself. Here are a few of my favorites from her session.

Grant’s family was in town visiting family for the holidays and part of the visit included a trip to Indigo Portrait Studios. I love working with folks from Texas. We always seem to have a great time, and I can’t resist the opportunity to bring out the stuffed horses and western props. I have to admit, though, ultimately  some of my favorites from the session were the images of baby Grant and his little cousin Alena with the sock monkey hats. I had to include the image where they look like they’re conspiring against their  parents! An indication of things to come I think! 🙂 Congratulations, mommy and daddy on your dashing little cowboy. I hope you have a wonderful visit here in Washington!

Baby Callen is already 9 months old. The big one year is just around the corner. I love watching the babies of previous wedding clients grow up. It’s so much fun to be a part of their families. And I have to admit, Callen’s so full of personality, I could photograph that face all day long. I could have posted all 90 images from the session, but I finally settled on these. Cute lines kept popping into my head for some of these photos. I can just hear him thinking to himself in the last image, “I crack myself up.” 9 month sessions are so much fun.

Little man Layne is growing so fast! The big one year is just around the corner. I remember when he first came in for newborn photographs. Actually, I remember first meeting his mommy and daddy back when they were looking for a wedding photographer. It is so much fun photographing the babies and children of previous wedding clients. I love watching their family grow. Here are a few of my favorites from Layne’s session. I’m sure we’ll be seeing him in the Majors before too long.

Benjamin is such an easy going little guy. He took everything in stride. Accept when it was time for a snack break, let me tell you, he put his foot down. No more pictures until he had his snack. After a bottle, he was ready to play with his bear friends again. For fun, I had to share one of the images of him sitting on the settee upset waiting to eat. I think it’s adorable, maybe because I have a baby of my own and I can relate to those moments. Doesn’t every parent? Which one do you like best?

What a sweet family. In addition to taking some family portraits, Brooke had some fun with a few friends on our French settee. She was so full of smiles. We captured these images just a couple days before Daddy was deployed overseas for a year. I have to say, it made me sad when Mommy and Brooke came in by themselves to pick out their portraits. I know they’ll treasure these portraits over the coming months.

Little Tyler has the biggest blue eyes I think I’ve ever seen. He is so expressive, I could photograph those big blue eyes all morning long. It’s been so much fun watching him grow from the tiny little guy he was when he first came in as a 3 month old. Just wait till he’s walking! Mommy and Daddy will have their hands full then. Here are a few of my favorites from his 9 month session on Saturday.

Mercer is quite the little man. He did such a great job standing, it won’t be long before he’s walking! What a big smile. It always warms my heart to listen to babies laugh! He is definitely a sweet little boy.

Little miss M- is such a free spirit. Boy does she get around quick! She’s only 9 months, but she’s everywhere at once. We had to be quick, but we were rewarded with so many beautiful photographs, it was hard to select our favorites to post. No surprise, her parents had the same problem and bought an album of the session! Experience really pays off when it comes to photographing active little ones in the studio!
